COA Week Slovenia
During COA Week 2026, NACOA Slovenia will lead a nationwide awareness campaign focusing on the often-hidden experiences of children growing up in families affected by alcohol problems. This year’s campaign is guided by the message “When stigma speaks, children fall silent.”, highlighting how shame, silence, and social attitudes can prevent children from being seen, heard, and supported.
Through public discussions, professional roundtables, online events, and media engagement, COA Week 2026 will bring together professionals, parents, and the wider public to challenge stigma and raise awareness of alcohol-related harm within families.
The central programme will take place in Maribor, in close cooperation with local public health institutions and professional partners, while campaign messages will reach audiences across Slovenia.

COA Week Switzerland
In Switzerland, COA Week 2026 takes place from 16 to 22 March. This year’s focus is on “parenting in a situation of addiction”. Regional institutions working with substance abusing parents or their children are organising activities in the field and online.
More information about this event in French, German or Italian can be found here.

COA Week Sweden
The Swedish annual week Spela Roll (translation: matter) will this year focus on different subjects related to how to make a change for children that are affected by their parents’ drinking.
We encourage everyone to be a part of the week and have provided tips and inspiration on what can be done as a municipality, in schools/preschools, or in activities for children and young people during their free time.
During the week, there is also a digital seminar program that highlights:
- On the healing power of making art from difficult experiences
- Digital support for children and young people with a parent experiencing addiction
- Research on support groups for children
- Children’s rights according to the new Social Services Act in Sweden
The seminars are free to attend and open to anyone who is interested. Find out more,
There will also be available social media material with “5 ways to matter” for anyone to download and share in their channels with the hashtag #spelaroll2026

COA Week USA
This international movement brings attention to the millions of children affected by parental addiction.
While some can find a supportive adult who helps protect them from the worst, others suffer in isolation.
They often believe it is their fault, and they are responsible to “fix” the person and save their families.
All children deserve the hope and healing that can transform their lives.
During COA Awareness Week 2026, our global voices can create a wave of awareness and hope for every child, everywhere.
