Stafford Ward Lecture

Thursday 13 February, 5pm

House of Commons, London

Nacoa’s annual lecture takes place every COA Week in memory of Nacoa co-founder David Stafford and former Chair of Trustees Simon Ward.

Our host is The Right Honourable Liam Byrne MP, founder of the APPG on Children of Alcoholics and the Manifesto for Change for Children of Alcoholics. He has been instrumental in bringing these children to the attention of government and we are proud he is a Nacoa patron and friend, shining a light on those who might otherwise remain lost in their pain.

At this year’s lecture, Jonathan Ashworth will join Liam Byrne in calling on this government to adopt the Manifesto for Change and reinstate funding, cut by the last. Other speakers include Josh Connolly who, with Liam Byrne, joined us in 2015, working tirelessly to raise the profile of COAs in the public consciousness and supporting the Nacoa helpline. Journalist, Camilla Tominey will chair the event.

The Nacoa helpline remains the only confidential, national, accessible and inclusive source of help and support for some of the most vulnerable children in the UK today.

This year we celebrate Nacoa’s 35-year anniversary, working together we have created a community of COAs who are breaking the silence so that we are seen and heard.

General invitations are exclusive to Nacoa members. Become a member of Nacoa for as little as £26 per year, then email admin@nacoa.org.uk to book your place. Press invites on request.
